Bristol never seems to fail with an amazing array of street photography subject matter. This last Saturday was no different. Thw winter sun shone harshly down creating very long shadows as I photographed the Templar Church ruins. Then on visiting the Bear Pit – a local haunt for counter culture in the heart of Bristol, I stumbled across graffiti artists amid the mid day shoppers.
I then moved on to Stokes Croft – I love this place! Every time I visit it looks different, its one giant mural that is spread over the entire double sided street, a beautiful mess of shabby chic and noise from society. It’s clearly an area that has gone through bad times and economic stress, but amongst this there is a growing gentrification and hipster vibe that permeates out from the cracks. This heady mix creates a vibrant canvas of street photography opportunities and just plain strange and compelling images to be made.
